Virat Kohli, who scored a century during the final Test match against Australia, failed to replicate his performance during the first ODI against the same team. He was dismissed for just four runs off nine balls in India’s chase of 189 runs. Despite the early setback, Kohli remained in good spirits and entertained the Mumbai crowd with the famous ‘Naatu Naatu’ hook step during the first innings. This step is from the ‘Naatu Naatu’ song of the Telugu-language action film RRR, which won many awards, including the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards, making it the first Indian song to win at the Oscars.

During the final Test match, even Sunil Gavaskar and Matthew Hayden performed the ‘Naatu Naatu’ dance. Kohli’s century in the final Test helped India win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the series ending as a draw. Sri Lanka’s loss to New Zealand ensured India’s place in the World Test Championship Final against Australia.
Although Kohli’s early dismissal in the first ODI was disappointing, his century in the final Test will ease the pressure on him. India will be aiming to win the ODI series and find their perfect combination ahead of the 50-over World Cup. The team’s performance in recent tournaments means that a poor display in the ICC showpiece event could prove disastrous for the players and team management.
