On the third day of the fourth Test against Australia, Shubman Gill achieved his second century in Test cricket, displaying his prowess in the longest format of the game. After KL Rahul’s poor form, Gill was selected to open alongside Rohit Sharma in the third Test at Indore. Despite an underwhelming performance in that match, Gill showed his mettle in Ahmedabad, partnering with Cheteshwar Pujara to score over 100 runs for the third wicket.
Although Gill had previously scored a century in the Bangladesh series, he was replaced by KL Rahul in subsequent matches. However, after Rahul’s disappointing performance in the first two Tests against Australia, Gill returned to the team and made a significant impact in Ahmedabad.
As Gill reached his hundred, the Indian team applauded him, and Virat Kohli was particularly visible, smiling and clapping for the young player.
