Rishabh Pant, the star wicketkeeper-batsman of the Indian cricket team, has been recovering from a severe car accident that occurred in December last year. Pant has been keeping his fans updated about his recovery process on social media, and recently, he shared a major breakthrough in his progress. In a video he posted on Friday, Pant can be seen throwing away his crutches and walking without any support, which is a significant improvement. This is the first time he has been seen walking on his own since the accident.
Pant’s fellow cricketers, including Hardik Pandya, Sreesanth, and Suryakumar Yadav, congratulated him in the comments section of the post. Pant had been a crucial part of the Indian team across all formats before the accident, but he was injured while travelling to his hometown when his car collided with a road divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. After initial treatment at a local hospital, he was airlifted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for further treatment.
Although Pant has made appearances at some Delhi Capitals’ matches in the 2023 Indian Premier League, he is expected to miss a significant portion of Indian cricket action this year, including the ODI World Cup. In his absence, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and KS Bharat have been handling the wicketkeeping duties for the Indian cricket team.
