In Match 47 of IPL 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious by five runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday. Chasing a target of 172 runs, SRH managed to score 166/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Although Aiden Markram (41) and Heinrich Klaasen (36) played decent knocks, they couldn’t avoid a defeat. KKR’s Shardul Thakur and Vaibhav Arora claimed two wickets each to limit SRH’s run chase.
Batting first, KKR scored 171/9 in their 20 overs, with Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh being the top contributors. In a match where KKR’s batting order struggled, Rana played an impressive inning of 42 runs off 31 balls, smashing three fours and three sixes. Meanwhile, Rinku scored 46 runs off 35 deliveries, including four fours and a six. Marco Jansen and T Natarajan took two wickets each for SRH, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory.
