In the 36th match of IPL 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 21 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday. RCB managed to score 179/8 in their chase of KKR’s target of 201 runs, despite a half-century by their skipper Virat Kohli, who scored 54 runs. KKR’s bowling department, led by Varun Chakravarthy, was in top form and took three wickets, while Andre Russell and Suyash Sharma scalped two dismissals each.
KKR, on the other hand, rode on the quick fifty by Jason Roy, who scored 56 runs off just 29 balls, including four fours and five sixes. Nitish Rana (48), Rinku Singh (18*), and David Wiese (12*) also played crucial cameos for the visitors as they reached a total of 200/5 in 20 overs. RCB’s bowling department did manage to take some wickets, with Wanindu Hasaranga and Vyshak Vijay Kumar bagging two dismissals each, while Mohammed Siraj scalped a dismissal.
Overall, it was a dominant display by KKR, who outplayed RCB in all departments of the game, and secured a comfortable win in the end.
