India Needs a Win in Fourth Test to Reach World Test Championship Final

India is currently leading the Test series against Australia by 2-1. However, in order to secure a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, India needs to win the fourth and final Test match. Australia has already confirmed its place in the final by winning the third Test in Indore.

Teams Move to Ahmedabad

Both India and Australia left Indore on Monday and reached Ahmedabad for the fourth Test match. The teams will practice at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday.

Normal Pitch Expected

According to media reports, the pitch for the fourth Test match in Ahmedabad will be a normal one. The pitch curators have not received any guidelines from the Indian team management. The pitch is expected to be similar to the one used in recent Ranji matches played at the same venue.

New Zealand vs Sri Lanka Test Series

If India loses the fourth Test match, they will have to rely on the result of the New Zealand vs Sri Lanka Test series to determine their place in the WTC Final.

Steve Smith to Captain

Pat Cummins, who played in the first two Tests for Australia, had to return to his country due to his mother’s illness. He has been officially ruled out for the fourth Test match as he will not be able to return to India in time. In his absence, Steve Smith will captain the Australian team in the fourth Test match as well.
