In the opening match of the IPL, defending champions Gujarat Titans defeated Chennai Super Kings by five wickets, with Shubman Gill stealing the show with an outstanding half-century. While Ruturaj Gaikwad played a high-quality knock of 92 runs off 50 balls, Titans managed to restrict Chennai to 178 for seven after electing to bowl first.
Gill continued his impressive form, smashing 63 runs off 36 balls with some stunning strokes, leading Titans to victory in 19.2 overs. His opening partner Wriddhiman Saha also played a crucial role, scoring 25 runs off 16 balls. Titans’ Sai Sudharsan contributed 22 runs off 17 balls as well. The match was played in front of a near-capacity crowd at the world’s largest cricket stadium.
