In Match 33 of IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured a 49-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. Despite half-centuries from Jason Roy (61) and Rinku Singh (53*), KKR could only manage 186/8 in 20 overs, with Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande claiming two wickets each for CSK.
Earlier, CSK set a target of 236 runs for KKR, reaching 235/4 in 20 overs, with half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane, Devon Conway and Shivam Dube. Rahane played an unbeaten knock of 71 runs off just 29 balls, including six fours and five sixes, while Conway hit 56 runs off 40 deliveries, featuring four fours and three maximums. Dube also contributed 50 runs off 21 balls, smashing two fours and five sixes.
Kulwant Khejroliya took two wickets for CSK’s bowling department, while Suyash Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy grabbed a dismissal each. The victory takes CSK to the second position in the points table, while KKR remains in the sixth position.
