Delhi Capitals secure spot in Women’s Premier League final with win over UP Warriorz

In the Women’s Premier League, Delhi Capitals secured their spot in the final by defeating UP Warriorz in their final league match. With Mumbai Indians already in the eliminator, DC needed a win with more than two balls to spare to edge out MI on net run-rate. And they did just that by restricting UPW to 138/6 and chasing down the target with five wickets and seven balls to spare.

Tahlia McGrath’s unbeaten 58 off 32 balls for UPW went in vain as Delhi’s top-order batters Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma were aggressive from the start, taking DC to 56 in 28 deliveries. Although Lanning and Verma were dismissed, Marizanne Kapp (34*) and Alice Capsey (34) steadied the innings with a 60-run partnership for the fourth wicket, ensuring DC reached the target comfortably.

With this win, DC overtook MI on net run-rate to secure a spot in the final. MI, who had led the points table for most of the league stage, finished second and will now need to win their next match to fight for the title.
